What are photo borders?

Photo borders allow you to add decorative designs around the edges of your online photos. Borders are a great addition to photos you plan to print, or to just add a nice touch when sharing your online photos with friends.

You can add a border to a single photo, add the same border to every photo in an album, or add different borders to each photo in an album. Whenever you add a border to a photo, you're working on a copy. The original photo without border will remain in your album until you choose to delete it. You can add a border to landscape and portrait photos - our designs will adapt to either photo style.

Borders are free. There is no charge for using borders and there is no extra charge when ordering prints of your bordered photos. And like our everyday storage, there is no limit to the number of bordered photos you can store in your Walgreens Photo account.

  3. Click once on the border you'd like to apply to your photo.
Note: At any time, click Remove Border to revert to your original photo.
  4. When you are satisfied with the border, select As a replacement (to save your newly edited photo over the existing one) or As a copy (to save your newly edited photo as a new image).

  3. Click Create Now.
  4. Select the album that contains the photos to which you would like to add a border and click Open This Album.

  8. Check the Add This Border To All Photos box.
  9. Click Done Adding Borders to save your changes.

Note: To apply the same border to an entire series of photos, you must make the edits one-by-one if you are already in a particular album in your photo account. You must start from the Prints tab in the photo header to apply the same border to all photos in an album.

Can I change or remove a border from a photo?
When you add a border to a photo, we always keep a copy of the original unbordered photo in your account. So to work with an unbordered photo, you can use the original. If you have already deleted the unbordered original, you can still remove or change your border.

  1. Double click to open your bordered photo.
  2. Click the Tools (wrench icon) button on the right and select Edit from the drop down menu.
  3. Click the Borders tab.
  4. Either select a new border style to apply, or, at the bottom of the border thumbnails, click the Remove border link.

Is there a cost for adding borders to my photos?

Borders are absolutely free. There is no charge for using borders and there is no extra charge when ordering prints of your bordered photos. And like our everyday storage, there is no limit to the number of bordered photos you can store in your Walgreens Photo Center account.

Will my photo be cropped when I add a border?

Our borders are designed in a 2:3 aspect ratio, which are best suited to a 4x6" size photo. Many digital camera photos are in a 3:4 aspect ratio, so it is likely that a portion of the top and bottom of your photo will be trimmed to accommodate the border.

When you order a print of a bordered photo, we will adjust the proportions of the border for the print size you choose. We do this so that the border will not be cropped irregularly during the printing process. However, we recommend using the Preview/Crop feature on the Choose Sizes and Quantities page to see how your photo within the border itself may be cropped.
